Exporting the field headers from a Contact List in very similar to exporting a Contact List as a whole. Simply follow all of the same stages (found here), but include one more step before clicking the first ‘Export’ button. After clicking ‘Show Search’, add in a search condition that will not yield any results. In the example given below, the email field has been set to contain the word ‘nonexist’, generating an empty Contact List with only the field headers for me to export.
Now, once you click the "Export" button (found just above where you have typed "nonexist" as in the example here), you will export a blank Excel sheet, with just your Contact List field headers. This can be handy for ensuring any contacts you wish to Merge into your Contact List will have the correct field names and should reduce any potential issues found when performing a Merge.
